Where are you located? Would this be a M-F job? Depending on location of your company and the service area you provide would help determine if pay is enough.

If you plan on someone doing 130,000 miles a yr. And only work 35 to 40 hrs a week, that is no where near safe. Your looking at least a 80mph truck on ADVERAGE. Bye bye bottom line. And that is if the guy never goes home. $960 a week... Fagetaboutit

Yes that's a good wage, you can probably get more driver than 5 years for that wage imo. Just recheck your expectations. 130K miles is way too high for a 40 hr week.

    Good luck

I am paid by the hour now, and I believe it is much safer that way. I don't do halfas$ pretrips and I don't drive as aggressively in traffic as I did at one time. I used to think "the longer my day is, the less I'm making per hour". Now I don't have to worry about that. I have a good work ethic so I'm not stealing company time and dragging my feet, but I can't say the same for all other hourly drivers.

$24.00 hourly with paid medical and dental would promote safe driving.

Thanks for pointing out the time vs mileage discrepancy. I found my error there. Padded the miles to account for unknown deliveries and possible back hauls, but still used just the time it would take to go from warehouse to warehouse. 130,000 is likely high, but I wanted to be high instead of low for this project. Looking around 110,000 miles going just warehouse to warehouse.

And "on duty" can be at most 14 hours a day, 70 hours a week - correct?

I pulled 5 years out of the air - is 5 years excessive?

Route would start in Twin Cities MN, and it would be at most 6 days driving and a minimum of 3 nights at home (assuming home is Twin Cities). Day 1 drive from Twin Cities to Omaha, day 2 drive from Omaha to Fargo, and day 3 drive from Fargo to Twin Cities - twice a week. Be back in Twin Cities on Wednesday and Saturday, with Sunday off. Wednesday and Saturday would be short days since the drive from Fargo to Twin Cities is 4 hours.

$24 per hour with medical, dental, 401k with matching, 1.5 overtime pay after 40 hours, and PTO.

With this updated information, do you think $24 would be enough to attract and retain an experienced driver with a clean record? Also, you folks pointed out one flaw already - are there any others you see?
