There is a truck I am thinking of buying and its a tandem 286 inch wheelbase.
How big of a deal is it to shorten it and maybe even making it a single axle?
    How much would it cost?
Any recommendations on a professional frame shop that can give me a quote and answer my questions?

Should just be, unbolt the rear axle assembly move it forward to where you want it, then cut the excess frame off along with the front rear axle. Then just make everything else fit.

Easy peazy. Not much to it just about any shop should be able to handle it.

If all goes well I'm closing on the truck by Monday.
I think I will keep the shortening idea on hold for now as a backup plan. Will try to run it as is for a while and stay out of nyc.

Was gonna build a 2 car haul and tow bed on it but the company I wanted to do it has a 10 month waiting list. Might as well put it to work for now.

It's easier to go shorter than longer.
