Well, if you can't get the truck out of the way of the fire, the question is now: do you want to lose life also? Insurance will take care of the equipment. This is why they should have those removable center barriers every mile. Removable as in, maybe you are unable to move it by hand, but you can certainly move it with your vehicle.

I guess it depends. If your kids would be better off without you and a large life insurance policy would pay out in this instance, you could just sit there and wait.

    Forget that equiptment,

I would wonder if you had all that warning from the smoke 10 miles ahead and no traffic coming the other way don't you think MAYBE it's a BIG fire?

I know a logger who was in it in his 4 wheeler. Area is not easy to to see much ahead because of the winding road and trees. There were vehicles coming the other direction. This thing blew up so fast that no-one was prepared. He has been on fires for many years and said this was the most extreme he had ever seen. This fire burned over 10,000 acres in just a few hours, a nearly unbelievable rate of spread. There were flames over 200 feet tall.

All of the log trucks that burned were not megas. They were family men who work their buts off to earn what they have. They work from before daylight to dark and they maintain their trucks on the weekends.
