My first year driving and it’s my first winter. I use to be getting loads non-stop now lately im waiting hours between delivering a load and getting another one. Im wondering if this is industry wide because the season or if it’s just my company.

It dies down after Christmas for about a month and a half. People just spent a ton of money over Thanksgiving-Xmas and generally don't do much in the dead of winter. Flat deff slows and so does van. Reefer too but not to the extent open deck does
D.Tibbitt, clausland, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this. -
Depends on what area of trucking you’re in. Freight, yes it can be slow after Christmas/New Years. But if you’re hauling propane up north this is a busy time of year.
snowman1980 and ibcalm19 Thank this. -

This time of year is slower. Partially a blessing. If bad weather. You can be careful. Take your time. Wait things out.

gasoline, dairy products, foods, home/business heating oil, propane, and a few other needed things, can be all year long.
reason why "some" freight may be in short supply before Christmas and for a month or 2/3 after is many factories close for end of year inventoryhomeskillet and T.Rucker Thank this. -
If it snows a lot the Tank Yankers will be scrambling to haul aircraft deicer.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Only slows when it snows.

Freight has slowed a bit in flatbed, but not too much. Seems like the weather over the last three weeks is when it started.

Dennixx Thanks this.
