Man, you are going to start an unintentional flame war....
Compare your wages that you make against the wages that truck drivers made 15 years ago. Once you find out that wages have gone down while country-wide inflation has gone up over the past few years, then maybe you will see why many drivers, especially veteran drivers are very unhappy the way the industry has gone over time.
Trucking used to be a job where you had to know someone just to get in. Now, everyone is a dollar sign. Got a pulse? Check. Got a CDL? Check. You're hired, here's your 22 cents a mile wage.
Corporate america is the cancer that will help destroy America. Corruptness just for the sake of personal profit. -
try 35 cents wages arent the best but i have a job no other company would even think of paying that to a rookie driving isnt rocket science it just takes patience and a little common since

I talked to a guy I was in orientation with. He was on GP dedicated. Running his butt off and making $750-850 a week take home. He was wanting to get off it as it was constant go-go! Wanted to go back to OTR for less money to get his 6 months and quit, go local.

I am glad to hear some good about Swift.
Some of us try to inform the new folks, but not many listen.
They prefer to pick their own company, for some reason or another.
ALMOST any company will work as a starter, you have most of the control on how things turn-out !!! But you Must know how to use that control !!!!!
I have personally sent quite a few people to Swift, and less than 10% don't make it there !!! -

Getting a good dedicated account is only partially due to working well. It's a big part luck and where you live. Some drivers will never have the opportunity to get on a ded account simply because they have the wrong address.

I drove for Swift for a short time, four months. It was definitly not for me,as an experienced driver. However I am glad to hear that you are getting along good with Swift and enjoying it.You are right, a good dispatcher and FM can make life a lot more bearable.Hope things keep going your way.
