I am actually fairly optimistic about this. I hope it offers some flexibility to drivers without opening up the possibility of exploitation of drivers. Hard to do I know. From what I have heard (don't know this for sure just rumors) I think the changes will mostly focus on eliminating the 30 minute break (yay!) and adding more options for the split sleeper like 7/3, 6/4, and maybe even 5/5. Flexibility is a great thing and much needed.

Doing away with 14 hr clock would fix it

 

And the dispatchers will love that their drivers can now go deliver at any time of the day or night by splitting their break. That eliminates so much stress for the CSRs and dispatchers.

Exploitation of drivers is only a thing for the drivers who allow themselves to be exploited. They could simply say "no".

 

I agree.. just like cheap rates... there would be no cheap rates if dudes wouldnt agree to it... same with ELD... only reason there was ever a mandate was because WE allowed Fmcsa to break it off in us...
