My problem is that i've never done over the road,I've looked on here and yes I know how everyone bad mouths Jb. but at this point I am seriously looking into this,I have applied for local jobs with no luck, and JB has been calling me non stop for 3 weeks now!!! Now my question.. Is there anyone on here that is doing the family dollar route and yes I know that some of these places are a ##### to get into I just need some help on this, I've turned them down 3 times now and they keep calling me! Also need to know what goes on in training ": Orientation"

Sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum!!!! If so please direct me in the right direction thanks!!!!!

never worked the family dollar acct or for jb hunt. but I do know from what I have been told by other jb drivers, its all driver unload and if your neck size is 17 inches or greater you will have to go take a sleep study for sleep apnea. but if you are not having any luck elsewhere why not take the job. get yourself some otr exp. then maybe you can find a better job in 6mos to a year. heck you might end up liking it there and stay. stranger things have happened. good luck.

JB Hunt has a few other dedicated accounts. i say if you need a job, go for it, BEFORE you are told you NEED to GO BACK to school for a refresher..!!!

JB was bad, VERY BAD back in the "old" days when i too first started out, but hey, what's the alternative..?? running out of unemployment, needing to go back to school..???

Expect to figerprint every bag and box of every load! If your a hustler you can make some good money but you will earn every penny! It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter and there's no inbetween.
But you need a job and it could be worse so go for it.

if you have to fingerprint anything you will be compensated for it, just like dollar general used to be. I have never done familly dollar but its a popular account for our drivers. JB is not a bad company to work for and dont listen to the neysayers. The sleep apnea thing is most major companies. If your out of work this will be a good thing for you. You go out and do you job and bust your butt it will pay off I believe i think that is a regional account so OTR isnt there.

i believe there is a per piece pay if you have to finger print all the boxes. Hopefully he can tell you more about that account I never worked on that one.

Thanks for the info. I've never seen that many axles on a tractor trailer. Cool looking truck. What city is the company located? A daycab always good!!!
