Usually those can be spotted a mile away. "Average 4000 miles per week!" "Average $3,000 a week!" "$0.75 starting!"

Nobody is driving over 200,000 miles a year. Nobody is getting $156,000 a year starting pay. And nobody is hiring new folks legally at $0.75.

Just remember this following equation, no matter what they tell you: Chicago area + foreign owned/dispatched + 1099 + escrow + big promises = you're gonna get screwed.

You're in Florida correct? Jtech in Jacksonville is good.

    i'm in Central Florida.

Just got off the phone with Indian River. They are hiring from my area for OTR but no word yet on when the training program will be implemented.

Them sorry recruiters there will never get back to you. Love the runaround. Their "program" is suppose to start within 1-2 months.

When I was an Army Recruiter (DA selected, I didn't choose the role), we had a saying. "3 Categories: Now, Next, and Never." If their program hasn't kicked off, that contact is in the "Next" category and will be a "Now" when the program is ready to go. Unqualified applicants go in the "Never" column.

Don't expect to hear anything until 1-2 weeks prior to the start date.

IMO, Indian River Transport and Oakley Transport (Lake Wales, FL) are good tanker companies. Tanker customers are better customers than dry van or reefer customers. Backing and parking tankers is easier than van/reefer. I didn't think either IRT or Oakley hired newbies.

IRT will supposedly start a program soon that will employ new CDL grad drivers.

    As always--time will truly tell.

Did you previously hold a Florida CDL?. You may not need to retest or go back to school. I was able to reinstate my CDL simply by submitting an updated medical card.
