Yesterday I had the fortunate or unfortunate opportunity to experience working at a funeral home and attend a service. Long story short, my neighbor is a funeral director. I owed him a favor and he called on that favor. One of his attendants got the flu and he was short on staff.

9-5 went by fast. I helped the embalmer with the.... Embalming process. Wash and Dress up the deceased, and helped cremate the deceased. I attended one of the scheduled funeral service and got a $100 tip. I don't know how to describe it...very emotional I guess. The embalmer lady was very nice though.

Now that I think about it, this is a job that I can easily do. My neighbor said his attendants, on a bad week, works 30 hours but still take home around $800.

    Thoughts?

If you think you can handle it, then go for it. Almost like EMT/paramedic work, you have to expect the unexpected in that line of work. Natural death or illness is one thing, but severe trauma and physically disfigured victims is on a different playing field.

I'm doing almost the opposite. I am a minister (pastor) who is suffering from people burnout and I am going into trucking to get away from all the emotion and stress of dealing with people.

God takes us where we’re supposed to go. You’re going where He wants you to be. But, you already know that.
