The one I mentioned is Discount Med Direct which has a Sarasota location and 2 others in FL and one in Illinois. They will take a prescription from anywhere in the country and mail it/have it mailed from Canada. Don't know if they would take an out of state prescription at one of their locations. I guess they can do what they do because state law is different from Colorado and other states.

Your Dr licensed in your state sends them the prescription and eventually it’ll arrive at your doorstep in the same state where your Dr is licensed.
Discount Med direct is an intermediary and not an actual pharmacy. I don’t know the exact details of it all but they do rely on actual pharmacies to make it happen.

It really doesn’t have much to do with state laws other than them complying with FDA/DEA regulations…and the prescribing Dr isn’t going to be able to send it to another state.

The out of country shippers are also registered and approved by the DEA and aren’t allowed to ship non FDA approved drugs.. Even so they’re somewhat limited to what they can ship..narcotics for example are a no go.

Sounds like a great way to save a few bucks on medications though.

Used a telehealth service from my medical insurance provider on the road. The doctor that I spoke with decided I needed a prescription grade medication. I provided the doctor with the pharmacy I use, as they offer nationwide coverage.
The pharmacy could not fill the prescription because he was not licensed in the state where I was trying to get the prescription. This was in Arizona. Have also had something basically the same happen in Utah.

Some major chain pharmacies claim you can get a short term “Emergency refill” even if you are out of state on non controlled drugs. Have never had to do that, but it does seem odd that they claim they can do that, but not fill a new prescription from a licensed doctor with the appropriate prescription certifications.
