.....on full power, the GPS unit loses it's mind and starts flipping thru all kinds of different screens. Hope it never causes any permanent damage but so far it returns to normal after hitting the 'back' arrow.
You can imagine how upset a fellow might be if his $400 GPS got cooked LOL
Just bought a Garmin 780 GPS. When I key my Stryker 655.......

your antenna and feed line needs to be looked at, what are you running with details?
-
5' Firestick adjustable. 18' coax. 655.
Various cars and trucks.
Does the same with mag mount Wilson on car.
I bet if I hold a fluorescent tube next to antenna while transmitting the tube will illuminate -
By the way, I hope that the tube would light up when you transmit. -

Daniel Horvat makes some nice chokes. I’m running a class C decent sized box and my coax is in close proximity to my satellite coax junction box. Sometimes my radio barefoot would get into the tv, now running power it doesn’t even bother it with his choke at the bottom of the antenna mast.
And my base antenna is a vertical with no ground plane or ground radials which uses the coax as a counterpoise and is very conducive to bleed down the coax. Not a problem anymore. -
Just to clarify, you’re speaking of a base station versus mobile, correct?
I see that Daniel Horvat is on MyAntennas.com in a website with supporting tech text. Thx.
My approach in mobile thus far is ferrites at both ends of coax & power leads in big truck. Usually type 31. PE products as site is easy enough to use, and they’re good as to service. (Cheaper exists). IOW, I want a range of suitable devices to treat either end or both ends as experiments proceed.
(Ridgeline informed me that my portable DOMETIC AC/DC refrigerator/freezer used a “swing compressor”. Noise from it was unbearable when running. A large ferrite toroid and multiple wraps of the power cord nearest the 12V plug solved the problem).
If any length of wire (or coax) is seen as potentially a receiving or broadcasting antenna, then all onboard devices may be affected or cause problems.
My hope is that in making the environment as quiet as possible will improve overall radio performance.
The flip side is in not affecting operation of truck electronics.

I'm hoping someone will adapt this technology to fry car stereos when some jackdonkey pulls alongside me at a traffic light, blasting that ridiculous bass crap they call "music" these days

A 9’ expanding cattle prod with a super capacitor backing it. Touch & die.
And shotgun mounted wire reel and anchor to get the ‘holes out ahead that cut in from entrance ramp. Cut in with no room to spare. And then want to brake check.
