I worked for trimble for 5 years installing gps autopilots on all types of tractors/combines and implements. It might exist, but it will never fully develop. Too much that can go wrong without a human eye on things.

So is that what they mean by flight plan. Is that when the flight is programmed into the autopilot so it can accurately take control.

i disagree. i think this will be the last segment to see automation. ltl is some of the most expensive, time sensitive freight being moved, hence the wages.

I don't think it's that easy. You might need to get a dog named Pickles.

It’s also the same route over and over delivering to company controlled facilities. Other segments have more uncontrollable variables because they pick up and deliver to customer controlled plants and warehouses. Time sensitivity makes a robot truck more attractive. No more meeting another driver at a service plaza to swap sets. The robot has no hours of service.

do you think the trucks won’t be staffed with people who must adhere to the current / similar regulations?

“As a human you have senses, you have your eyes, you have your ears, and you have the sense of touch. You are feeling the road" - This is where the new AI tech will come in. It will learn like a human. It is scary s#!t.
