I just finished trucking school in December. I got all my endorsements.
The only thing holding me back from getting work is my felony from back in 2017. It was a non violent charge, but it is also considered a sex offense. It was by getting some illegal files on a computer , deleted but regardless it was illegal and I was arrested months later.
I am not on parole or probation. And yet I cant get anyone to hire me and it truly sucks. I was at Western Express orientation and I know of at least 4 people who were felons there, and still on parole. They all got jobs. Its just so frustrating that I cant even be given the chance.
I could have luck with a smaller mom and pop company, but they all require like 3 months experience or more. I cant even get the experience I need to even try.
Im a Computer Science graduate, was in the Marines, an entire life of being a law abiding citizen. Just unfortunate that this happened.
Does anyone have any ideas of what company might a person hire a person who has a non violent sex offense felony?
This would be in the Maryland, PA, WV, VA area.. I just want to be given a chance like anyone else who committed a felony. It truly sucks.
Just got done with school & cant find a job as a felon

Sounds like you're a pedophile, that's probably the difference between you and those other felons. I would rather work with a murderer than a pedo.

Why would someone choose a highly regulated industry in recession, flooded with newbies, when there are many others to choose from? I'm not asking why you like trucking. I'm asking of the many trades and jobs, why choose one of the most regulated ones since you have a sizable obstacle to overcome?
@Chinatown and some other drivers will help you out. You might need to think about the phrase look before you leap. Never ask a barber if you need a haircut. His job is to cut hair whether you need one or not.DanielWV Thanks this. -
Chinatown, I apologize for comment in the form of a reply. But I have some questions for if you don’t mind. I’m not able to start a new conversation with you because I haven’t made enough posts of my own yet, and have figured out how to make a new post… would you mind messaging me? Thank you!Chinatown Thanks this.

I went down this road because my VA Counselor said it was a career that felons can get jobs in. He is the one who recommended it, and the the Voc Rehab Chapter 31 paid for it.
I got all my endorsements, even Hazmat. TSA approved me, TWIC is in the process , just waiting for my card. I would hope we as a society can start looking at what people are doing with themselves now and moving forward, instead of looking backwards.
We all make mistakes, life is about learning not to make that mistake again and moving on.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Will do thank you.
