would it tilt far enough forward to exposure the radiator. anyone know where i would locate the service manual, i tried kenworth page just showed pretty pictures of trucks!!!
Cabovers will tilt all the way forward if you take off the stop brackets. Most people use a chain and a come along to make sure the cab doesn't hit the ground. I have had some of my trucks in that position before. It is a scary looking position, but that is how it is done.
Rad comes out through the front once the grill is removed and bumper is off, and all the mounts and hoses are disconnected. Find a friend because it is heavy.
Be sure to empty your cab out COMPLETELY, THEN you can think about jacking the cab up. Don't trust the cheesy latches in the cabinets in the sleeper area to hold stuff in, or you'll be replacing windshields as well as a radiator. Also, NEVER jack the cab up with the motor running. There is a chance of you knocking the trans into gear while jacking it up, and that is comedic only if it's not your truck or personal property the truck runs into. Use the air over hydraulic pump behind the cab to jack the cab up. I would recommend using an outside air source when doing this in case your pump leaks air or is inefficient at pumping the cab up...otherwise, you could get the cab halfway up and run out of air in the tanks. If your pump is that bad, it might be time to think about replacing it. When using an outside air source, there is a valve on the pump itself that looks like a valve stem - you can use a locking air chuck hooked to an outside air source to provide the air pressure direct to the pump. When you jack the cab up, there is a halfway point at which the hydraulic pressure is no longer pushing the cab tilt cylinders and is actually acting as a brake to keep the cab from falling forward. Listen for the pump to sound as if its not working that hard, then select the pump to the 'LOWER' position and start to run the pump intermittently to slow the cab and keep it from free-falling forward. Now you can climb right up on the steer tires and motor and work on that radiator. Be sure to watch your noggin' on the cab access ladder...don't ask me how I know about that. Good luck, hope it works out for you! W2W
