Me & one of my friends (who works at a different company) are having a friendly argument about "HOW TO KEEP CURRENT" on a logbook. Image 1 is how he does it, Image 2 is how I do it. I myself - was told by Safety (of the company I work for) to do it this way that way you are indicating a change of status has been made. However, Image 1 - My friend's Safety manager has told him that Image 2 is irrelevant and you do not need to indicate that you have changed your status to driving and that you can leave it the way it is on Image 1.

    Whos right???

He's right, you're wrong. By drawing a line down to line 3 he has indicated the change of duty status. You are showing 15 minutes of driving, presumably before that driving has occurred.

That's only dealing with the lines. I won't get into whether or not you should be showing 0 line 4 time.

Image one is the right one , the duty cycle changed soon as you drew the line down from sleeper birth.

I agree with tinytim , i would show at least 15 minutes on duty not driving for the delivery.

At noon make a little line below the grid and tie the line together with the 1030 unload line. This way they know your location city and state is the same (i know i know but they will bust you on that)

Image 1 is correct according to what I've been getting told in school.

Image 2 is wrong unless you made the line *after* 12:14pm.
If it isn't 12:15pm yet, DOT could cite you for a log book violation.

(just repeating what my instructors have told me, one of which is 70 years old and says he drove for 30 years)

Have been D.O.T'ed quite a few times before, have never been given any trouble for not showing any line 4 at a customer.

    Panhandle flash Thanks this.
