What is this PSP score now? That is what had my warning ticket on it although it is not on my MVR. Is this just another way for the gov to keep us under their thumb? Now they have the new BMI index etc... that critics your height/ weight etc... will you have to be a perfect super hero to drive a truck in the future?

Here's some ways or things that effect your PSP
1. Tickets
2. Inspections
3. Log violations ( during inspection )
4. Lights
5. Speeding
6. Over weight
7. Over length
8. Trailer violations
9. Company equipment violations .. Such as brakes , fire Ext , emergency equip ,
10. Load securement
11 Hazmat regs
Stuff like that , I'm sure that there is more
Both companies and Drivers will have a score the PSP or driver score is on a 3 yr weighted scale . The older the violation the less it effects your score then after 3 yrs my understanding is it goes off your score
At a certain level I believe is 90.0 score you get a intervention or are forced intervention which can include
1. EOBR
2. Probation
3. Termination
The above is subject to company policies which I guess will differ per carrier .
The lower your PSP the better
Mine is 0% ( can't get better )
But let's say yours is 78% that means that 77% of drivers in your group or classification has a better PSP than you do and could trigger a more riggid inspection ..
( just an example )
But that's pretty well how it works
Also included on your PSP I forgot to mention is
1. Accidents ( your fault or not ) but I think if not your fault hits you waaaaay less from what I been told ...
Hope this helps you ...
But I agree with you just more regulations -
The current ... PSP matrix is from your previous 3 year driving or violation record we did not all get clean slates ... They took our last 3 year of events ..
The DOT says they did that to get rid of the bad actors or repeat offenders -
Accidents stay on your record for 5 yrs and as far as I know, they do not differentiate between your fault and not your fault. Thats one area I'm really concerned about since I've had 2 wrecks and both were non preventable.
-
This is also where I don't agree with the CSA stuff in regards to the PSP scoring .. -
-
1. Out in left field
2. Make no sence
3. Be written by someone with no knowledge of trucking -
