BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- To increase driving safety, Kentucky State Police is starting a new “safe driving program”.
Operation R.A.I.D (Remove aggressive, Impaired. and Distracted Drivers from Kentucky Roadways) will remain active for one year.
Law enforcement will be more visible and the number of check points will increase.

This program will allow each post to identify target areas.

"Not only just texting, but any distracting drivers. This includes eating and drinking. We are going to be out looking for those people. You're going to see a major force when it comes time for St. Patrick's Day weekend and holiday weekends," said Trooper Biven, Kentucky State Police.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration' studies show two-thirds of all fatal crashes link to aggressive drivers.

It is the law in most states, I agree ,if your eating or drinking causes you to not have control, then pull it over. Take the time to eat your meal.

You see drivers all the time weaving all over the road, and you pass them, there stuffing a foot long in there mouth with one hand and holding a super size 300 ounce big gulp with the other.

Typical "reporting", these days. No mention of whether KY traffic code specifies eating/drinking as distractions.

So drivers will have to get sneaky, maybe use a long straw, eat hiding behind the dash?! Can you at least breathe once in a while?

Right, because driving is so extremely hard and complicated you can't have a sip from your coffee mug while you drive. You should pull over and put your safety vest on and your helmet and THEN have a drink. Oh, and don't forget to document this on your E-Logs.
