Knight class action payout, the wait is over.

Wow that's a great Christmas gift. Do something good with that. Do not buy toys, or fancy car. My advice does not count for much. Just play it safe

 

Plaintiff attorneys hell;
I'd much rather thank the employees that had both the integrity as well as the courage to bring this lawsuit out into the open; without which the attorneys would never have known about in the first place.

 

It's kind of the other way around. Every single day, people get illegally screwed out of their rights in the workplace. In the vast majority of those cases, most people never speak to an attorney. On the rare times they do, several times an attorney will not take the case when there is a blatant legal violation but little monetary damages. In even fewer cases, the attorney does take the case, but often a lawsuit never gets filed and they settle before filing suit. But in the Knight class action case, In this type of rare instance, when a company is taken all the way to verdict and loses this hard... it was a special type of determination on the plaintiff attorney's side to make it happen. They're going up against a major corporation and defense firm and have 50 people telling them, "you have no case." In the end, Knight Transportation paid a lot of money not only in the verdict but in their defense costs as well.

 

Actually, it was a special kind of determination coming from the plaintiff(s).
Your above point proves my own; that the little guy making in one year what the attorney makes before lunchtime was up against many obstacles, certainly much more than any attorney since they had more than just monetary gain (or loss) at stake.

These were simple folk fighting for principles, and at more than a little risk since their very livelihoods were in jeapordy in the event of a loss; or even a win.
What did all those brave, hero attorneys have in the pot; pro-bono or retainer fee set aside?
With the attorneys, it's all just another day at the office; you win a few, you lose a few.

Enough of the automatic, male authority hero worship already; it's weak.
And harmful.

 

So what was Knight doing in 100 words or less to cheat people out of money?

I am no champion of lawyers, however, they did have 6 years of college and a bar exam. There is a cost associated with time and expertise regardless of your career path.
