Knight transport( Cant seem to get an answer out of them)

  1. I have seen alot of threads about this company but havent really took much of it to heart. So in looking for a new oppertunity I decided to call and see what they had to offer. First thing I ran into is their automated systems promps are incorect. You push a number to go to a certain department and you get another. So I finally get ahold of someone in Phoenix and try to ask some very basic questions. The Lady had a bad attitude but it wasnt affecting me. I just kept being polite. Seemed the more polite I was the more she got mad. Anyways back to the questions. So I asked like I said simple things like are you hiring drivers right now? She ask's for what. I replied for driving class A trucks. She says what division? I said I'm not picky what divisions do you have and which have emediate opinings? I told her I'm pretty flexable and always up to learning something new. Well to make a long story short she replies, That she didnt know! So I asked about their container fleet. I was given a number to call in California. So I called the number. Same thing with the phone system. It said if I you want to speek to a recruiter press 3. I did. No! A recruiter did'nt answer, A guy named Art did. He seemed friendly but as soon as I started to ask questions he cut me off and said I would have to speak to a recruiter. Well I explained the phone system prompt error. Then asked if I could speak to one. He said yes he would transfer me. So he did and I waited. For 15 minutes nothing. So I hung up and called back after a little while. Figuring they could be busy. Ran into the same thing. Bad prompt, Got Art, Transferred than nothing. Then I call back again. After being told the recruiter was their, Now Im told he's on lunch. WTH! Well, No big deal. This went on all last week! Crazy. I called in everyday last week just trying to get some basic info. I dont know if its me but everyone I talked too sounded ghetto. Whats the deal with this company?

If you think that is bad treatment (it is!) ,then just wait, it will only get WORSE!
I SERVED an 11 month sentence with Knight, and I can tell you without a doubt, it was the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of working for in my 15 year career! (Barr Nunn is a real close second place BTW)
If you work for them, you will regret it. My advice, spare yourself and your loved ones unnecessary pain and grief. Stay away from the Knight family!

I am glad people are finally seeing the light about Knight. If you think that was bad just wait until you get hired. Sure your Driver Manager might be nice and helpful but overall this is the attitude of the very people controlling your livelihood. Consider yourself lucky Bulldog and just be glad Knight only stole an afternoon from you. They wasted about 60% of my time in my last few months there. Time spent waiting on this or that instead of running miles. Fun times at Knight.

After working at Knight for just a few months many, many years ago, it became obvious that Knight runs a skeleton crew at all terminals, but with a 'few' bones missing! They hire competent people in the office, in most cases (altho most are hard-up for a job, green college graduates with NO experience in the trucking industry), and take these normally competent people and put them in positions of performing 'incompetently.' That's why most DM's leave within 3 months, some that make that period are promoted to Safety or Recruiting, and then might last up to 1 full year before being burned out with the 'rat race' operational environment.

Knight's bottom line is to make $$$, and all casualties are considered as normal business............very, very sad that 'many' American corporations have come to this! :biggrin_25513:

Bulldog, you have become a victim of their phone system. It is set up so that no one can ever leave a voice mail, it will automatically roll over to someone else. My own wife couldn't even call me, she would end up talking to someone on the west coast! Then when they transferred her, if I was on another line, it would roll over to someone else!

Listen to the posters here, they, we are not exaggerating. In my 30 years in the industry, knight has been the worst employer I have ever had.

I had the same experience as all of the above plus, for 14 months. I only went there cuz I had been driving in the oil fields for 3 years which went south and nobody would hire with no recent OTR experience. They r the worst company I ever drove for . Then if you leave with bad feelings they lie on your DAC. My lawyer is in the process of filing a defamation of character lawsuit, we will see? Even the state unemployment div. didn"t believe their lies! BEWARE of knight Transportation!

Since no one has pointed it out that Knight transport is a different company from Knight transportation, I will.

Knight transport is a flatbed/curtain van carrier and not part of Knight transportation which the OP seems to be talking about in their post.
