You cleared $3,000 AFTER all expenses? You're going to clear $4,000 this week after all expenses? WOW! That's impressive.

The mistake that I've made initially, was to think that what I took home after fuel was mine to keep. It turned out that fuel has been so far only 42% of all of my costs since I've gone independent.

Edit: From a gross of $4250 this week and 2000 total miles run....it has been mediocre week, BTW. I will get to keep maybe 2500 in the end. For the fuel, I spent around $900.

I picked up this load yesterday in kaplan, Louisiana going to hurricane, UT paying $4,500. After my fuel surcharge & loading & unloading & the Star gets their cut im at $3,386. So after fuel I'm taking home about $2,800. The other load i did was from Bakersfield, CA to Beaumont, TX. It paid $4,200. So i really made clode to about $5,000

That's great! That $2800 take is after your truck operations costs too? You know, truck payment (if you have one) insurance, maintenance etc?

I use to think some of the truckers were lying about making this kind of money. Ive watched hundreds of YouTube videos about people coming over here & failing. I just dont see how it's possible

My truck payment is $1,400 a month i actually don't remember how much my insurance is. I take $500 a week to pay those. Then i take the rest & split it into thirds. A third for me, a third for maintenance, & a third for uncle sam

Careful. I have felt this exact same way a few times too. When rates tank again you better be prepared though. I think just about anyone can stay afloat right now but it gets a little harder when rates are week.

I see, I think ;-) I'm trying to get this clear in my own mind, so, forgive me if I'm a little slow LOL

Out of the $2,800 you deduct $500 for truck payment & insurance costs(?), which leaves you $2,300. Then you divide the $2,300 into thirds:
    $759 for you
    $759 for maintenance related items
    $759 for Uncle Sam.

Is that right or am I off.

So that's $3,386 gross revenue (after Landstar cut) for 1575 miles?
