    Ok. I'll ask him. That sounds more like starting pay.

    I thank this a thousand times!!!!!

    I don’t always get what I quote but, I am surprised more often than not what I CAN get?

    A brand new driver at ups parcel makes more than $1400 a week if he is working. There may be some locations where a driver doesn’t get many hours when first hired in. I left there 6 years ago and was making $100,000 working 50 hours. $130,000-$140,000 is fairly common today for guys working 55-60 hours.

    Okay, I hate to be a doubting Thomas, but 130k to 140k on 55-60 hours a week?

    I'm pretty sure UPS line-haul rate for my area is about $28 to $30 an hour. So, let's look at it this way:
    $30 x 40 hours= $1200
    $45 x 15 hours= $675 (O.T.)
    Gross = $1,875
    50 weeks @ $1,875=$93,750

    Now, I'm sure there's some some additional accessorial pay, but $37,000 to $47,000 a year extra? What am I'm missing here?

    Besides, 55-60 hours a week? Week after week?

    We are not talking ups freight. It was $32 in 2012 probably $1 hour ever year in raises mileage now is $82 cents plus couple hours of OT every day. $2500-2800 a week adds up quick. After 10 years there I kind of know how the place works.

    Depends on the city. Louisville Ky is adding 250-300 drivers. Everyone doesn't get hired there.

    Very few jobs at ups are much less than 55-60 hours on a bid every single week. I called my buddy and current rate is 36.43. 8.5 hours a day because 30 minutes of break is paid. OT is 56.64.for anything worked after 8. If you pull doubles it is roughly 75cents more an hour with OT being 1.12 more. Mileage is roughly 80cents with most drivers getting 600-650 5days a week, they get 1-2 hours clock time a day paid at OT from the first minute but are paid for all delays or non driving activity including drop and hooks. If a ups driver is making less it is because he is in the 5year pay progression or is not getting many hours because he is at the bottom of the seniority list. Even new guys at most places are working now because the company is growing to keep up with E-commerce which is growing faster than any other segment of the economy. Next time you see a buster brown with some grey hair, ask him if he is making $1000-$1400 a week and he probably will laugh at you.

    I'm not doubting a guy at UPS can make a nice living, I'm just not buying the $145,000 (or whatever) a year claim. I know how these, "I know guys that are making..." stories go, it's like the fish size stories ;-)

    You are free to not believe anything you want. Unless a guy is on call he works the same set schedule 5 days a week. Like I said 55-60 hours a week is very common. It is one place where they are always offering OT and when they don't get volunteers then they force from the bottom up.
