I never took a load to VA, so I am not familiar with that outbound market. Assuming it's like PA, I would quote 3.5-4k. Right now you might not get it, but in the second half of the year, it's pretty easy to get that

I've run from Chicago to much closer area...to Hogerstown MD/Greencastle, PA/ Winchester, VA - about 700 miles, for the last 2 months...2 days trips. So in March it was easily possible to get 3K hauling paper rolls there, now it is hard to get 2400 even. The last week I went to Lancaster, PA for 2480. This week, they call but they want to pay no more than 2200. I am staying home for now. I would not take anything less that far (Chesapeake, VA) than 3K ; tolls over $200 (unless you take I70 and I 64) and fuel cost exceeding $500.

The market is being really funky this week. I'm really struggling to cover AR-IL loads that normally go for 2000-2100 at 2200-2300. I'd be interested to find out what's causing the disturbance.

It's seasonal. Every year is the same thing. AR will be pretty hot till July. You might have to pay even more

Your post has merit. The thing is that it's a weeding out process all the BCO'S go through.
The agents that grab a few loads from a board will probably fizzle out on their own anyway.
But the bigger agents, and the really big ones, that generate tens of millions of dollars, Landstar isn't going to do anything to those guys over a lemon load here or there.
    Why would they?
    Would you?
Cmon, real grown up world. Money talks and BS walks.
Some of those guys literally generate 10 million in profit, one agency.
That's called rocking the gravy train.

Who can they replace easier. One driver, or the guy that generates tens of millions for everyone?
