That's no problem. Just long as the year restrictions are absent I'm good. Speaking of Landstar, I've been seeing tons of their van drivers lately who can't drive for shiit. What's up with that?

Seems like they may be dropping the bar. Someone told me they were picky about who they contracted with. Sure doesn't seem that way to me.

Those are the mailbox number and bumper sticker trucks. Some of us have pride in our equipment.

Have done business with Mercer for years while ago and it was always nice and smooth, Landstar was always hit & miss.

Talking from O/O point of view.

Ok here's one... For every Landstar driver with an old freight liner with chipping paint, there's a Mercer driver with a quality leasing truck... Come on "take some pride" and take those embarrassing mud flaps off!!! Oooo that hurt deep I know

Actually that's not correct, when you eave a load booked, it yours, when you commit or say you want one, it may not. Big difference. Its also better described as first empty, first offered.

Ok the way other Mercer guys have made it sound is that a load can be taken from under you and given to the "first in liners"... And that it becomes weird to book ahead because you don't know what will be yours eventually and what won't

I still think that's a training wheel program. Like "let's be fair to Johhny he was empty first"... I don't care if Johhny is empty before me, Johhny doesn't work for MY company... He just is contracting to the same company... So it puts a limit on contractors by making them play fair with each other which I think pretty pathetic... Though I think the atmosphere and respect for contractors is greater at Mercer, this first empty crap is socialist, democratic and childish. It's a company driver mentality but here's the thing your not their company driver. Your a CONTRACTOR!

but that's why these two companies excel. Different strokes for different folks

    Lmao
From some of their trucks I've seen, the policy must be, if you can limp it in here, we've got a load!
That being said, I always thought that was the best way to go o/o
Buy a 7 thousand dollar truck, pray and be lucky for 3 years
Trade it for a 20 thous truck
Pray and be lucky for 3 more years
Then the 40 thousand dollar truck.
Or go to Vegas and shoot craps
    Same principle, only quicker.
