Why do you think it's Landstar's responsibility to get you a hotel?

They are o/o only. It's purely a business to business relationship.
It's your company's (you) job to get your driver (also you) there Monday morning.

Look at it as your first task at running a business.

I guess he should turn down the free room and when it’s time for lunch he should go get something out of his cooler instead of taking the free catered lunch.

Sure it’s a business relationship, but it’s ok to treat contractors like people not numbers.

I need to go to a orientation center and renew my hazmat, update contract and attend a half day of class. They will pay for my room, provide lunch and give me$250 for My time.

First of July the wife and I are going to a resort in Savannah for 3 days, all paid by LS, all fun meetings, no training, evening meetings includes great dinner and open bar, the also give away a new Western Star, since I’m in business relationship with them maybe I shouldn’t go.

 

Maybe I was being too harsh and reading too much into the op's post. I read it as expecting LS to provide the hotel and such. Just pointing out he needs to get out of the company driver, company provided everything mindset if, in fact, he was expecting LS to provide for that.

Of course it's silly not to accept if they offer, but one should expect to be paying for their business expenses themselves. He'll get further faster the sooner he realizes he is now a business owner....
