My wife and I run team pulling a step deck. You might think that there wouldn't be much freight doing that but if you get creative you can do well.
j&j buck.....Your brother is too young to work for Landstar. Actually, you might even be too young, you will have to check the qualifications. I don't know if Landstar is still running it but there used to be a train your spouse program where Landstar would allow a current BCO's wife to come aboard after attending driving school and team with their husband.
Most rates seen on the load board are all in. When you call a agent ask for the breakdown, L/H, fuel surcharge, stop pay, tarp pay, ect ect. You want as much accesorials as you can get because you get a better percentage, fuel surcharge is 100%, tarp pay is 100%. This will increase your profit but you must make sure the agent breaks these out. I always have a agent e-mail me a confirmation page showing the breakdown of the charges so there isn't any monkey business.

anybody know how the 2007 coronados run. that's what im looking to get, 60 series with a 13. either 3.36 or 3.55 gears. -
-
if I could find a decent price I would get a Cascadia with a dd15, that's what I got now and I love it, just wish is had a few more gears. the cascadias with the 15s are still pricy though. so the 60 is the next best option. if I was made of money I would get something with a big cat but I cant afford a truck with a drinking problem either.

they got no freight shakers at all from what I found. probably gonna see if I can hit up a freightliner dealership in ga or sc. it would have to be a dang good deal for me go much further since the trucks gotta go home befor it goes anyhere else. fuel aint cheap, especially outta pocket. right now the Coronado is my first pick. price and options wise. wanna try m best at a 36 month deal. with truck payments and all of ls expenses that would put me at 600 a week max for fixed expenses. $50000 truck. my credits around 650 to 675.

When LandStar qualified me, I picked it up at Arrow one morning, and with my salesman in tow, went to the inspection shop in Tampa. When it passed, I went to orientation in St, Augustine, after which my tags were waiting for me. I went to Tampa with tags in hand, signed the paperwork, and picked it up. That way, my payments didn't start until the following month.
By doing it this way, and by picking LandStar to run with, I've never been late for a truck payment, and now I always have next months payment in the bank before this months payment comes out.
You may want to consider doing it the same way. It removed a lot of stress, because I didn't want to lease anywhere else, and I didn't want the truck if I couldn't get on here.
