I’m looking at moving to Landstar Stepdeck. However, I’ve got to be able to get into and out of California (Sacramento area) to see my daughter. My other kids live in Texas. How difficult is it to find loads going into and out of California from other parts of the country? Also what are rates like going in, within the state & coming out? Not looking for dollars, just general idea.
    Thanks in advance for replies.

Sorry, I don’t run west, I couldn’t help you much for freight out of California. However getting to both California and Texas is easy from most parts of the country.

    Maybe @Old Man can help.

@Old Man is too old to run out there.

His truck I mean. Mine too.

Sorry, we’re not much help today.

I always see freight going out there that pays well, but I don’t search loads coming back, if that helps.

The loads are there, rates can be very good.
If you are willing to do some in state work, you may find that you will have more agents wanting your service.
If your port legal, you can get very good long loads.
All depends on your relationships with agents.

The Herlong loads can be good. Some just take a lot of work. Just don’t go in the winter, or your going to be stopping in Reno/ Fernley for a wash.

San Diego sometimes pops with good loads.
