Good afternoon friends, soooo, currently doing a variation of tank, hopper and van.
To cut a long story short, I'm looking to go leased operator, done with the whole (non) forced dispatch thing.
To that end, clean abstract, excellent safety record, winter/mountain driving experience, blah blah blah......my real quandary is which company to go with?.....my present one is a no-go as their van rates are mileage based...and awful.
Ive basically narrowed it down to 2 companies, very different in their way of operating but both percentage paid. These companies being Landstar or Len Dubois(winnipeg).
Sooo....65% ($US) at Landstar or 80% ($ca) at Len Dubois!
What would you do?
Landstar v 80%

I tend to usually go for the smaller outfits. Usually a better atmosphere. Assuming they have a decent reputation.
Canadian outfits on percentage usually only pay monthly. Lanstar pays way more often than that.
I was at Double C out of Edmonton ten years ago at 80 percent, plus all the extras. The thing that killed you was if you sat for three days in L.A. Or San Antonio.
Afterwards I went to TST Overland on mileage. Terminal to terminal, pin to pin . Stayed in Canada, home every week. Kept me rolling and brought home more money.Nothereoften, BigHossVolvo and Northerntanker Thank this. -
Ok, thanks for the reply bud. Actually LD pay weekly!....and have a decent reputation. I just like the whole LS concept of running things the way i want!.......but the 'security' and back up of the office staff at LD gives me more confidence as a new leased operator.
Such a dilemma....I actually know people at both companies and each one says they are awesome. Decisions, decisions!uncleal13 Thanks this. -
Do not, I repeat, do not go with Len Dubois. You will get screwed.
BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -

Several company drivers have not been paid properly, labour board claims. Your call.
