We're gonna be in Ontario Calif next week and our laptop needs repairing---need new keyboard, fan, and CPU may be damaged.
I don't want to take it to Best Buy or Staples (don't want to drop it off and come back in a wk).
I'm looking for a local guy who has a repair place---Anyone know of a place near the Petro and TA?
Local guys don't always have a website or show up on Google.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. If anyone knows of a place in Amarillo, or Denver, those are places that could work for us in the future.

Why not just buy a good used laptop for $150.00.That's about what you'll be paying to get yours fixed give or take a few bucks. If not,did you do a google search?
-
Yeah, $150 is probably what I'd have to spend to fix it, But I like the HP Pavillion and it has Windows 7 and other hardware I can't afford to replace....so, fixing it is way easier.pattyj Thanks this. -

Like it was mentioned..if your laptop is a few years old, upgrading would be better. Window 8.1 you change in the taskbar settings/properties/Navigation you can change the setting to always boot up to the desktop.
Plus the newer computers use the touch screen which windows 8.x was build for. -
if you did a google search then you should have seen this guy
if it overheated so bad that you think it fried the cpu, then the board is most likely gone too. buy a used one like pattyj says and have him switch out the hard drives.truckon and Green-eyed Lady Thank this. -

I'll never buy another HP product again. I was all HP up to that point with 4 different ones. I bought a new Pavilion and 11 months later the motherboard went out. I shipped it back to HP under warranty after about 6 hours on the phone. They took a month to send it back and it only worked a few days and went out again. Since they kept it until my warranty ran out they wouldn't fix it without paying them like $400. I told them where they could shove it.
I've been with Dell since then and haven't had a problem yet in 4 years. So far I'm happy with them.
If I was you I'd buy a used one off eBay before I would fix it. You watch carefully you can find a good one cheap.lovesthedrive Thanks this. -
Yes, I've heard the Pavillion is a lemon, only after I'd had mine for a couple years.
I seem to fall in love with lemons, 'cuz I also own a Chrysler Sebring, which I've been told my particular year and model was a real bbbaaadddd one. But I've had mine for 16 yrs and it still purrs like a kitten and runs like a stallion.
$400??? I'd have told HP the same thing.
Thanks for the Dell recommendation. -
My desktops have been compaq and hp.
I have had bad issues with Toshiba, Acer and Dell.
My new computer is a HP as well. Just got it in October.
It is a matter of opinion. -
That's encouraging. Other than my G42 screen being on the small size, I have always liked it. My old Sony Vaio was a real brick, and I'm never going to join the Apple cult.
I just really need someone to recommend a repair place in Ontario Calif so I can get mine fixed next wk. We're in OKC now, waiting to load, and I haven't been able to access our settlement sheets for 2 wks., let alone handle our banking. I'm flying blind out here with no 'puter.:smt100
