I remember seeing something about large companies registering at apartments or home addresses, which could not possibly be where their main operation is when they have a hundred trucks. This is illegal right? The only reason I checked the DOT number was because I saw a flatbed getting a load of tank containers with a not for hire sheet of paper taped to the windshield. Weird all around.

Some small LLC's do that. Don't know if it' still going on, but in some small town in Nevada, small LLC,s and single truck operations registered at a little office next to the tiny post office. No one worked there, but the various LLC's and single truck 0/0's just taped their paper to the wall in the little office. That made it all legal. I think the guy working in the post office kept the key for them.

100 trucks though? Maybe they screwed up their form or something and it's supposed to be one guy but saferweb says 100 trucks.

I worked at a very legitimate trucking company where the office was the owner's apartment. We used a local truck dealership next to a truck stop as a yard. All bad things are not necessarily illegal. All legal things are not necessarily good.

The truck that was involved in the fatal accident in Southern Alabama a few weeks back that had a two occupants of the truck that were on work visas the company they were driving for bunch of us looked up. The address of the trucking company wants the DOT number was found, and the address came back to a Dunkin’ Donuts in Darien, Illinois… That is why so many people are highly skeptical about a lot of these addresses and every single one of them need to be vetted and if it’s found that they are fraudulent addresses the people need to be prosecuted and if they’re in this country on a green card and what not it needs to be revoked and they need to be deported back to where they came from.. also this using an address in the US to gain authority, but conducting operations like dispatching and such from overseas has to be ceased immediately as well

As a loose and fast rule 9 times out of 10. Chicago companys are pretty much 1099 bottom of the barrel trash. Man I wish i could find that one parking garage that got shown here the one time with literally hundreds of verifiable companys in it and thousands that had been shut down for various reasons.

The fact this crap is allowed to go on means one of two things. Our government is just that inept/corrupt. Or they know and dont care because cheap freight and a few deaths among the peasents arent their problem. My money is on C. All the above.

That is all over the place.
why would they do anything about it? Keeping inflation down and/or shippers can make money now on the shipping as well. Too many trucks with flip flops in them hauling for $1 or less a mile thinking they are someone. Maybe they are… back in their country.

they need to stop giving CDLs to non citizens. It’s not English that’s the problem. It’s not even being a citizen but five states in particular allow non citizens to get a license. CDL or regular.

It is destroying trucking. Foreign dispatching and brokering is a problem but I’ll be honest. The best dispatcher I ever had who was better than anyone I have ever dealt with dispatched me from Ukraine. Thanks to the war that’s over.
