    They could but unfortunately the EPA has been cracking down on emissions,which is part of the reason why everything has computer chips in it!

    I agree. China aint the only place that can make chips. Sheesh.....

    And this has been going on how long?????

    I remember Covid & hand sanitizer. All sorts of manufacturers were reconditioning their plants to make hand sanitizer.

    Makes me wonder if this ain't a smoke & screen just like the 70's oil shortage when they said there was only 2 years worth of crude left in the earths core. Actually, it just strengthens my belief that all of this is a smoke & screen.
    And what is really strange. You dont hear of chip shortages for anything else. Any & all electronics in the world today use all sorts of chips. You dont hear of any chip shortages for anything else... only automobiles. Zillions of products all over the world use chips and the only chip shortages are for vehicles. Now really, does that make sense?

    My wife always says... "We can walk on the moon but we cant....... " (in this case make chips for automobiles.)

    We make the high end high profit chips here and outsource the low end cheap low profit chips. Unfortunately, it's those cheap chips that are in almost everything except you phone and laptop. The Biden admin just imposed a ban on exporting chip manufacturing equipment to China. Not only can China not produce high end chips, they can't even produce the equipment required to make low end chips. So we're going to be screwed for a while until somebody somewhere picks up the slack.
