Doesn't surprise me, that is how England runs these days.

I'm working in London England right now, and see this all the time. They can claim unemployment benefit, have their rent or mortgage paid, get free or cheap travel, free healthcare, free school meals for their kids . . . . .

I work a 60 hour week, but would be better off financially not working.

There is an immigrant family in London that lives in a house worth $3million, and they get $12,000 a month in welfare payments. All paid for by the taxpayers.
They made the newspapers recently because of the value of the house, (its near where Princess Diana used to live, in Kensington, London), but the actual monthly payouts are fairly typical.

500 British pounds sterling = 764.4000 US dollars.....

Nothing to sneeze at......Just another moron who'd rather suckle off the teat of the taxpayer.....

In Nevada, you actually have to prove that you are trying to look for a job while on unemployment. Let them find out that you're not trying to do ANYTHING, and the benefits stop in most cases. You also have to file every week for continued compensation, or no benefits for the week.

I would take that job long as I didn't have to drive in London. Personally I would love to learn German and a few other European languages and then move their and drive. I think that would be a lot of fun. I heard they can only drive for like 2 hours then have to stop for a brake. But are also on salary rather then paid by the mile so that safety is the man focus of the job rather then getting as many miles as possible.

How long can this go on before the welfare state of England can no longer survive. Don't think it will be for ever.Who do you have to thank?

I wonder, maybe I could get them to send me half as much money if I promise to not put any greater burden on the system by staying home... in Canada. :biggrin_25526:
