I have an international tractor (2002 4400) and it has a leak from the adapter on back of trailer from the service line. The adapter is the one that connects the hard line to the coiled line. It has a plastic cover on it and thats where the air is coming from. I cut that cover off, and there is a factory hole nad thats where the air is coming from.

What does this part do, and why is it leaking air under pressure?

With trailer air supplied, there ie no air coming back from the service valve on the trailer.

    Thanks

Probably a valve thats leaking, or the adapter as you're calling it. Try a new one.
