Well,Things worked out OK this weekend. When I picked up in KC fri 1100 there was 1 ACT truck at the same place. As I was getting loaded another ACT shows up.I go in to sign paperwork and then sign the sign in sheet and see 8 ACT trucks were there before me.I ask the guy where they were all going and he said Lawton.I thought o'crap I'll never get out of Lawton till mon.Unloaded at Lawton at 1000 and got a preplan from Lawton to KC for tues delivery 435 miles.
Dispatch called and I ask if there might be something with more miles,he said no,only 1 load left there. While I was hooking loaded trailer got another preplan from KC yard, where I was going to T-call this load, going to Mt.Vernon IL for mon 0600,321 miles. So it worked out good.Wil end up with around 3000 this week.Hadn't got miles like that for a while.

I am going to warn you about something. Delivering in Mt Vernon it is a Walgreens. They are super slow at unloading you so you will be there quite a while. Probably about 12 hours but remember you will get detention pay so it is well worth it.
-
Thanks Bigkid for the heads up.If I'm detained for a while I hope it is 12 hrs.Not 4 or 5,and mess up any chance of getting a good load for mon.I thought it was a good load with the 0600 delivery,be empty around 7-730 and in a good area for freight.I'm still learning everyday about ACT's freight lanes, good loads and bad loads.
Like the Lawton load,I probably won't take that load again on a fri.because it looks as though they ship(paper shredding co.)they're loads all at once.I got the last load available at the time out of Lawton.Plus that paper load was extremly heavy, they over grossed me at first 81k,and had to pull some off.Still left me with 79+,if I didn't have a tail wind going down, managed to get 7mpg,I would have probably got 5 1/2 with the normal s.w. winds.I know Lawton's good but maybe not so much with 10 trucks in one day plus the normal loads there. And the paper shredding loads are by appt. not fcfs.Last edited: Feb 12, 2012

I understand about the Lawton load. I am sitting here hoping for a load today, but doesn't look good. There were two other act trucks here at loves. They left. Sure hope they didn't take the last 2 loads. Ha!
-
Yeah I know a guy that asks for that load when he goes home because of the detention pay. He is usually there right around 12 hours so he makes $350. That is really just easy money and better than running a load that day because there is no fuel cost just profit.

Hope you got out Bigcat,The load I got out of there sat. morning probably would have sat till today, being that it didn't deliver till tues morning in KC.We're to small to send 10 trucks at one time an top of the normal runs into one area as small as Lawton.Someone's going to the shaft.

Didn't make it out. I am sitting at the Loves, watching it sleet and snow. Said I should have a preplan in the am. Hope this weather moves on by then..

It's 1100 mon morning and I'm still getting unloaded as Bigkid said, think they're almost done though. If Bigcat got out of Lawton today,he's probably driving right into the snow storm. It hasn't started snowing here yet,but should be soon. They say 3or4 inches.I only have 6 hrs on todays clock, all I've burned is 15 min so far and another 15 when I get empty. So I'm not going to far today.

Finally got unloaded at Mt Vernon around 1pm, 5 hrs detention so I made 175.00 sitting there, not bad.At that point I was hoping to have to wait longer but they got me done.I guess since the load is a mix of everything, not just one product, they repallet it and count everything, because I was short a few cases on several item's.Not my problem or ACT's as it was preloaded and sealed at the shipper.
Got a preplan around 4pm going from Trenton IL to St Joe for as soon as I can get it there.Moved down about 35 miles closer, because It was supposed to snow.Soon as I got here it started snowing pretty good.Hope it's not to slick in the am would like to get this load knocked out asap,as it's only 400 miles total.
