Hi, I am planning to buy a truck, I did some calculation for the variable and fixed costs plus driver salary, planning to use load board first and then looking for contracts? what do you recommend to focus on. I will run and manage the back office work. what do you recommend to start focus on. I am located in Texas. I am new in this biz so any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I was gonna say, if he’s looking for his profit margin it’s the line item where he paid the driver his paycheck. From what I’ve always heard you need to be “desk driving” at least 3 trucks to equal what 1 makes driven by the owner.

I am new to this forum, new to this biz, looking for your advice, so definitely is not profitable starting with one truck? even though having secure and constant loads and trustworthy drivers?. I am investigating and getting as much as information, I know you need to build experience and learn from all the mistakes. but this is my starting point for me, I know I will not make profit at the beginning I know that, but I would like to know some experience from you guys, I can't be the driver so this is my only option to start.
