Good day. I'm not sure this is the best or most appropriate location for this inquiry, but here goes. A friend contacted me the other day to ask for advice on setting lease a rate for his 2003 International tractor. He's been approached by a cold storage outfit that needs a power unit to move trailers around in their yard, and he's interested in helping them out since he's not currently using the International. Where should I direct him to help him find lease rates? I've suggested Craig's List and internet local want ads for his area, but those are the only ideas I could come up with.
This is the resource that I knew would be best to consult for suggestions on how to help him research this.
Thanks...

Does it need to be licenced? Are they going to pay for their own fuel and have their own driver use it? If it is off road only, does it even need insurance? Is this truck basicly junk or for sale anyway? Is it going to be resurrected to see the highway again at some future time?

Also a good place to start is call one of the rental places and see what they are charging for a spotter truck. We have done that several times now and it works out good if everyone understands their responsibility.

I apologize for this, and it might be because I'm tired, but it hasn't been ih in over 30 years. They sold the name to Case, and restructured as Navistar. They call the trucks Internationals, but not Harvester.
Sorry. probably just because I'm tired.Sharps5090 Thanks this. -

Oh boy, just look at operating and maintainance costs based on hours for the unit, double that and add 30%. That's the base lease rate. Then add a per hour maintainance cost, which is the variable.
Also tell your friend he needs to get a lawyer involved with the agreement, based on the state laws that this will take place, this is important.
And also got a question, hope this is a short wb daycab, right?Sharps5090 Thanks this. -
