Been trucking about 7 years regionally& local.Never carried gun because of deliveries to Leavenworth Prison,Department of Energy etc. Just asking if you had a CCW permit and stayed in your state or states that honored your CCW and wasnt prohibited by company policy.Could you pack a gun with you ? Or would you get yanked out of truck by highway patrol or DOT inspectors and stuffed in a crowded cell?Ive heard yeh and ney. WHERE IS THE REGS ON THIS?

It is illegal to carry in a commercial vehicle.

This has been beat to death in many threads. Do a search on it and read the many CLOSED threads on this.

OP use the search function, this question come up regularly! It is NOT illegal you must follow state law, company rules, and comply with FOPA (Firearm Owners Protection Act).rocknroll81, HalpinUout and bbone Thank this. -
See the search box at the top.
Type firearms in truck, or gun in truck, or illegal to have a gun and you will find many threads on this. -
10 4. I was kind of figuring it was regulated and controlled just like truckers and anything to do with trucking. Guess I'll carry a tool " good sized knife or a "tire knocker" without the lanyard. I heard a lanyard make those illegal.

I think the biggest issue is the differences in state laws regarding firearms and their transportation. I'm not sure if there are federal or state laws specifically pertaining to truckers, but it sure would suck if you caught a load going through someplace like California, New Jersey, New York, or Massachusetts where you might get locked up for how you transport it, or something silly like magazine capacity.

There are no Federal Laws restricting firearms in a truck. However EVERY state has a different regulation. Which makes it ILLEGAL to carry across state lines. Unless you have a carry permit. That still limits your abilities. Even with that most all companies prohibit firearms in the work place which includes your truck.

Basically the states where it might come in handy. IE NEW JERSEY,NEWYORK. IVE STAYED over in Atlantic City and just put the seat belts thru the door handles and latch them.Yeah sounds like a hassle to carry. See Im in Washington State and Oregon doesnt honor a Washington CCW. You have to get one specifically for Oregon. I presume so Oregon can get some of your hard earned cash. Lots of crazy stuff. Like in Mo you have to take an 8 hour class for CCW. No class needed in Washington state just pay $55. Washington CCW is good if you go to Mo thougheven though you didnt take an 8 hour class.

As others have noted, there are no federal laws specifically prohibiting anyone from having a firearm in a commercial vehicle. State laws differ. It is up to you to check state laws in which you plan on traveling. It is mostly the communist states that have a problem with law abiding citizens having guns. As long as you stay out of those states you should not have a problem.
