The epa just came out and said they are going to get rid of emissions controls on our diesels!!! How will this affect trucking? Will they still provide def?

    It doesn't feel real.
Does anyone know the exact specifics on how deep we are deregulating?

Why wouldn’t you be able to buy def? Be a ton of trucks and equipment that will still require it.

I don’t see manufacturers doing a 180 right away. It will take time to produce engines without emission controls, and they will have to redo all the computers to get everything to jive without emission controls.

Also who knows how long stuff like this will be tied up in court. If someone is needing a new truck I’d probably get one before the tariffs affect prices instead of waiting and hoping for a pre emission engine to be available.

I was wondering the exact same thing, my first thought was, curious how much mpg these new engines will get without all that emissions gear.

Because this is fake news and just another truck stop restaurant rumor. Nobody's getting rid of anything. All current emission standards are staying in place. The only rule EPA is reconsidering is - Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles – Phase 3, which was set for 2027. That's it. Too much misinformation circulating on the internet. There was another thread on TR about Transportation Freedom Act, that was also full of fake news and misinformation. Again, Clean Air Act is a core foundation for all emission crap that we have in our trucks today. And as far as I know, this law is not going anywhere.

Guess we wait and see. I remember hearing many people struggling sourcing emissions equipment for their trucks, would be nice if we could get a plant started up here stateside where they build it so we can get a good inventory of them.

The Transportation Freedom Act is supposed to allow us to do legal deletes. This is where this stuff is coming from, and it has to be Congress to allow it to happen, the EPA does not have the power to do it alone. All the EPA can do is not enforce the regulations, they can't change them.
