What is the best grease to keep in our gun, sold at Chevron, Esso, or Petro Canada?
Is the white waterproof stuff good for all around use on the truck and trailer? Or only for something like an ATV running in the mud all the time?
Do slack adjusters really require some special grease?
Do you slap anything handy on the 5th wheel?
Let's talk grease, what is the best one on the market and why?

Always used whatever dad had in the shop.
Going out on my own soon, would like to be using quality grease, not what is on sale, with no thought to quality.Deezl Smoke, Flint1 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
I use mobil epic semi synthetic grease. Works great in our cold climate. Can still grease the truck when its cold.

Sorry couldn’t resist.
On a serious note. Down here where it’s at least 90 degrees 10 months out of the year and triple digits are common for 7 of them Mystik JT6 or Schaeffer’s 274 seem to be the only two that will not melt away. The JT6 is as common as white volvo’s down here. You can get it anywhere.OLDSKOOLERnWV, lynchy, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
I would really miss climbing up like a monkey, and sticking the grease gun in the exhaust stack though. Then climbing up again 15 minutes later to retrieve it.

Most all grease is better than no grease, however, not all grease is the same. A Manufacturer will make different styles ( grades ) of grease for different applications , wet area, low pressure, high pressure , extreme pressure , each will have some different additives ( Molly, tack )for the application to be used for. Use a good quality grease and stick with it, I don't like to mix brands for one may change the property of one or both. D. A. , Mobil , Exxon , just to name 3 , I like the Mobil CM , it's orange color and has served me well on many different pices of heavy equipment . But, it's a heavy grease ( thick ) and stays where I put it, u- joints could maybe use a little lighter grease. But, I use it through out the truck and have not seen any problems. The trick is to use a little grease often - not a lot seldom, what runs out on the ground is wasted. Colder areas may need a lighter grease and they make one for that, talk to a dealer and tell them your application and I'm assured they can give you info so you can make a better choice .
