I got asked at the border about my load. BOL showed nothing but numbers. I was upright honest. I didn't know. But I knew the receiver. I said the receiver supplies Walmart. You might find parts of the load in the shelves soon.
    I got away with it.

Not all dry vans are dry.

That only works if you're hauling a reefer. If it's a dry van they'll know you're lying.

if you don't know, ya don't know.

    this isn't anything new.

you pick up a preloaded trailer and it lists numbers, just say, ya don't know.

get real people!! you aren't expected to break the seal and open the boxes to verify the load.

I've never had a problem with the truth before.

Down 95 from New Jersey headed to Tampa with a load from Abbott Labs. At the Florida Ag station he asks, Whatcha haulin?
I say DRUGS. He looks at me funny and asks for my bills. After determining they are legal, he tells me, "next time say pharmaceuticals". Clears up things much faster.

I occasionally haul pharmaceuticals...all that's on the bills are item numbers. But there is a hazmat column on every b/l I haul, even handwritten ones. So, if I were ever to haul a RQ of hazmat, it would be listed on there with it's required HM info, along with the pharm item numbers listed seperately, that are none of anyone's business as long as they are a legitimate load from a legitimate shipper.(as in, not hauling an illegal load of pot and calling it pharmaceuticals)...if THE MAN wants to break the seal and look, then note it on the bills and reseal it with a DOT seal.
