License Plate Mixup Results In Couple Getting Handcuffed

You’re guilty until proven innocent.

 

Stupid mistake on the part of Tennessee DMV to allow nearly identical plates to be registered.

I won't be holding my breath waiting for announcement from Tennessee DMV issuing an apology for this egregious mishap much less acknowledgment.

 

I bought a car. Private party with a handicap plate. widow Lady wanted it moved to her SUV. At DMV Ashe did that, I did title transfer. She, her son left. I noticed it was wrong. I called her son, both came back to DMV. *they said only 2 blocks away*. Supervisor came over fixed everything.
I had surgery, two drives to CO. *maybe not 100% speed limit on 900 mile drive*. Got back home one night city COP pulls behind. Seems plate to a SUV,in different city. But I still had paperwork. Knew how to put them at ease. No guns drawn. Had DMV correct it, then run plates after computer updated.
If I got pulled over NE I expect guns would be drawn.
