linears in modern trucks?

with the computers and modules in todays trucks is there actually a risk of doing damage to your truck by running a linear? and has the anyone ever been harassed at a weight station or during an inspection for having one? i've been building my truck all summer and just got my cdl last week so now i'm debating on which of my radios i want to put in it and am really thinking about throwing a little dx250 in there.

 

as of now my plans are kinda up in the air. i'm going to be running a single antenna already ran new coax and installed a new stud mount i'm thinking about trying out a 4 foot firestick i've had sitting here for a while. my favorite radio is the galaxy 959 i have 3 of them and have done just about every mod to them but being a side mic i can't put it in the overhead so i might end up running a 29 wx nt st i have but someone else modded it with lighted knobs noise toys and leds on the bottom only thing they did that i like is the dial a watt but i'm thinking the weather channels would be nice to have. in my pickup i really only talk when there is a traffic jamb otherwise i just listen so i could just use a external preamp i have from my days of running class c amps.

it's all i have for right now between building the truck and paying for cdl school i'm going broke quick. so i figure once i get the truck on the road and actually making me more money i will upgrade alot of stuff ie new seats, new couch/bed ,speakers,new cb and antennas ect.i've ran a wilson 5000 on my pick up for the past 20 years but right now my main goal is to get my wife to pass her alley dock and finish up a few things on the truck so we can hit the road.i haul campers so the truck now has a flat bed to put one on top and tow another behind us then haul cars for back hauls. we plan on team driving so twice as many hos means twice as many loads
