    I don't tarp!
    I don't 8ft tarp!
    I don't do hazmat.
I don't go to ports. TWIC
    I don't pull loads over 35k
    Over 40k !
    I don't do extra stops!
    I don't DH over 100 miles
    I don't chain
    I strap only

    See the pattern here ?

Well if you're willing to do all that. Which isn't a big deal really because it's called being a flatbedder. You will be fine here at Mercer.

All the above has to pay good to be worth doing. Just because you pull a flatbed doesn't mean you should do all the above for little to nothing. :biggrin_255:

The only way to get good rates is to differentiate yourself from the herd.
If you are just getting work because of your rates then you at best will make a living.

I regularly turn down loads , not because of what they want us to do but for what they want us to do for free.

    passingthru69 and TheDude1969 Thank this.

I don't have much issue with turning down loads until my coordinator is out and I have a temp in trying to push a 300 mile DH for a 250 mile load that wants 8 foot tarps on a porcupine type load. And then they act like they don't understand why you don't want it. Don't call me I'll call you. Maybe. Probably not. I'll just book myself until my bud Doug gets back.

What are the abbreviations on their load board. Some are pretty obvious, others make me try to think of words beginning with certain letters and leave me empty handed...
any of you mercer folk care to give a list of definitions?
