Just had what was clearly a newr driver ask me where he coul make a u turn at.

I told him he doesn't have enough room to make a u turn here. That he should back in to an open dock and then pull out to the right or simply back to his door.

Guess he decided to do things the hard way and he tried a u turn along the next building. End result damage to the arrow extentions on his truck and the corner of his trailer.

In the last year I've had a few newer drivers ignore advice and direction given that resulted in damage. If only they listened!

We don't give advice or caution warnings to mess with you, we do it because we are trying to help you avoid the pitfalls that are so easy to get stuck in as a new driver.

Please don't discard advice when its given!

3 point turn offers less chance of tearing up stuff unless you got 40 acres.

That's crazy. When I was OTR at Swift, I had to ask drivers all the time for help. All had good intentions and never did me dirty. I guess some people just have a hard time trusting others.

I will expound on this by saying, make sure you have a CB in your truck so you can hear those guys who are trying to help. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, you don't need a 1200 mile range, just something that allows you to communicate to other trucks around you.

I don't even particularly like talking on or listening to the CB, but I still have it on just in case. And I just have a little cheapo $70 uniden something or other... works fine.

Well, my friend, there's a lesson to be learned here, don't waste your time, and sit back and watch the antics. I know it goes agin everything you hold dear, but I've found, as an old timer, people today just won't listen anyway. Not sure why, I guess if the innernet[sic] has taught us anything, is peoples spoken advice just isn't credible, and combined with the lack of interaction, they feel everybody is stupid except them. I suppose it WAS a bit gratifying seeing that, and not sure how stupid the driver felt, probably not too stupid, and as hard as it is for me to say, best just keep to yourself.

There is nothing wrong with asking for help or advice when you need it and I’m sure your a better person and driver because you weren’t afraid to ask or listen!

You might be onto something with the trust issues thing.

I have helped many and those that took the advice given never hit anything at least while near the area we were at. I’m also fairly sure those that listened were able to learn from the information given but it’s just so darn frustrating when you watch them tear #### up doing the opposite of what they should within a minute of being given advice.

As long as he tore his own stuff up then i wouldn’t take it personal. Ultimately His choice. That lesson learned will cost him more. But if he tore up my stuff because he did it his way then thats a different matter.

It's funny the trust issue comes up .. cause some of those that don't trust what a walking talking breathing human is trying to explain .. they don't trust
But alot of those are the same ones that put complete trust in that little black box with the screen that is giving them directions .. We all seen how trustwothy those are ..lol

Why ask the question if you aren't going to listen? Generation TidePod just needs someone or something making noise or they feel like the universe kicked them out of the club. SMH.
