So in other words: the average American spends like a drunken sailor.

Patting yourself on the back for living on $2000 a month in Colombia is a weird flex. My wife and I live on roughly that here in the states with a house payment. I guess it's easy to cut $3000 from the budget when it's ridiculously high.

How is the average living cost of Americans $1000 higher than the average wage of Americans? Where are they getting these averages from?

Also, if you can work remotely from another country so can an Indian for 1/10th your wage.

    JoeyJunk Thanks this.

Always fun to read articles like this

apparently the people writing them have never been to rural America

Go to Zillow and look at a town I used to live in many years ago ,
    Manchester Georgia

and look at the interactive map ,
There are houses that have sold recently , for under $120k

My uncle passed away a few years ago and his kids finally sold his home .
A sturdy well maintained brick ranch on FIVE acres with a 20x40 shop ,
It took two years to get $85k for it

because it was in a small town , (they got a wal mart so it ain’t that small) in nowhere Alabama .

Yeah, it’s crazy , and I think it’s like most “news” stories . It’s written just to get clicks and views and likes .
The writer has no clue what they are talking about .

go to any rural area and the average household income is about $30k

Its like the whole "affordable housing" situation here in Canada. Move literally a couple hours in any direction from Vancouver or Toronto and there's your affordable housing.
