This happened to me when I first went solo. The bank suspended my debit and credit cards due to "unusual activity". My phone payment was rejected by the credit card company when they suspended my card. I ended up far from home with very little money and no cell phone. Fortunately, another driver let me use his phone to call my wife and it was all straightened out in a few hours.

Because I worked in "Credit Card Services" as a "fraud analyst" (basically just a CSR) for a VERY major player, I can tell you, the worst part is that it is all done by computer. There isn't some "person" declining your CC or debit card. Even adding a "note" to your account does very little in the long run, other than alerting the CSR to your circumstances, so they can get you "cleared" quicker. (providing they actually bother reading the account notes!) When I was working full time *and* attending a local JuCo, I was practically living out of vending machines. You know, the kind you can use your debit card on? Yeah, I got "stuck up" a couple times from that, and these charges were only a buck or two at a time! This is why I have them on speed dial...

    Chompi ,,,

Thanks and i was thinking the same thing about the Fumes and other Contaminants that may get into the food.

But it sounds Fun and something Interesting to do on the Road LOL , It would be hard to explain to a Peace Officer why it smells like Roast Beef coming from your Engine Compartment LOL ... and depending on his mood it could turn really bad but having said that it would still be something to do to make living on the road exciting maybe meet up with a few other drivers down the road and compare quality and best tasting lol ,,,, IT COULD GO YOUTUBE Viral ! ! ! ,,,,,

Thanks for the Banking Tip ! ! I would have never thought about my bank shutting of my cards thinking they were stolen HMMM ,,,, very very Good Tip ,, I will Definitely get the cards ahead of time Thank you ! !

Chompi Comes thru Again ! ! ! :biggrin_25514: :Straight road:

Yeah, they have tons and tons of (proprietary) algorithms that make these determinations, but they're not gonna reset em, just because you're a trucker...Though I have seen it done for "high-value" customers--people charging 10s or 100s of thousands per month.

Another tip for you: You know how, when someone makes a new entry to this thread, it's all the way at the bottom of the page? Because this forum is bottom (or back) loading. "Account Notes" are top loading, so each time there's a new (manually typed or computer generated) note added to the account, the rest gets pushed down. To stay on top of this, it may be a good idea (depending on how much activity there is on your account) to just preemptively call in (how often again depends on your usage) and ask them to add a big note***************highlighted by asterisks***************** to your account, indicating, IDK **************USER IS COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER--USAGE INDICATIONS AROUND COUNTRY, PLEASE VERIFY TRANSACTIONS AND CLEAR**************** or something like that--your bank would know best how to word it, and when you do get held up at a POS, and you call in, of course you're angry, but don't take it out on the CSR, but just ask them to check the account notes for that highlighted note.

    Dagger ,, ,

I can see how this would be a very Stressful time for a person on his first trip out to have happen to them, and in your case Married ! not being able to communicate with your wife and her not knowing where or what happened to you ,, what a Horrible added Stress that must have been for you on top of everything ells you were dealing with being a first time out Driver.

Glad it all worked out for you  :Straight road:

No fumes from a manifold unless you have exhaust problems.
You don't cook it at the end of the stack, you put it on the engine itself..no fumes, just heat.
Done it for years, tastes great, not dead yet :D
