I'm consistent. I would rather close than let the customers set the rates. Same market as you.

Its great if you have a sweetheart deal with a dealer i hope it last many years. We have had our share but as faces change and door knockers undercut your rates what was your bread and butter becomes a weekly snack
Last summer my regular backhaul said someone would move his cars $50-75 per unit less , so its either match or sit for 2 or three days every trip to scrape up a load on central that would pay even less with two or three drops. That alone 2 lost days equals a 30% revenue loss i already took my 30% cut last year.

What are you stinger drivers running per mile fully loaded?
What is considered acceptable per car?

Yeah but if you accepted the load at the price you accepted it at so why worry about it after the fact. Live and learn, sometimes you make great money on one load then not so great on the next I'm sure it works for brokers that way as well.. The broker isn't pocking $600 on every load either..

2 Friday's ago I took a $1,700 load 1,100 miles because it was Fri 3pm and I'd likely be sitting the weekend if I didn't take it. Turned out the broker got paid $2,6k.. Yeah it sucks a bit but what do you do... win some, get by with others..

This is why you haven't heard from me in awhile Jeff. Sitting it out until things improve AND everything I own is paid for. May be awhile. :D

And that is the reason rates are where they are because no one is willing to sit and force the brokers to up the price.

    Definition of insanity remains intact.
