Man talk about a nice truck.. Would be an awesome hotshot truck. Was a 2002 F650 with 13,5k actual miles and a CAT engine. I honestly couldn't believe how maneuverable it was. I picked it up at a hot rod/exotic vehicle auction at the Cardinals football stadium in Phoenix,AZ. Had to zig it in and out of a bunch of hot rods and sports cars to get out of the place. The thing turned on a dime for such a big truck.. I was amazed..

edit.. best part.. The broker said it was an F650 with a flatbed................When I saw the address as the football stadium and called the number finding out it was an exotic car auction I started to wonder what I had gotten myself into.. Was a bit fun figuring out how to load it, but got it done with no real issue just had to go slow being it was so #### long...and used 2x12's screwed to my deck & dove tail to give it a bit of extra height while loading/unloading. slipped on with about 1/4 inch of room between the ground effects and my trailer at the top of the dove tail.

That’s a nice rig. Those things still bring a pretty penny, especially in that condition wot a CAT.

Yeah, I didn't ask how much, but they paid me pretty well to get it to them. Also judging by the other cars at the auction, it was all toys for rich people. It was a Mecum Auction.

There’s one I seen in Canada the same and they want $80K. I would have bought a Class 7 truck years ago to haul my 5th wheel but they’re absurdly overpriced. Even with truck prices as they are you could get a decentCclass 8 for $80K

Yeah, I'd never spend the money on something like that for doing hotshot. It's one thing to finance a new truck but to lay out that kinda cash for an older truck is silly in my book. If I was going out of pocket that much cash it would be a Semi even though I don't really want a semi..

I'm not aginst using a class 7 truck if it's the right deal but I'd never pay that absurd amount of money for one. Also TBH, I'd actually feel bad using that truck for hotshot being the condition it was in for its age it shouldn't be a work truck.. Personally, I thought my 2007 F550 was in good shape as far as the interior and so on.. but this one was like new out of a showroom on the inside.

If I could run a single axle class 7 with one of those single axle air brake low boy car trailers and have maybe $20k in the truck and maybe 15k in the trailer I'd say sure.. but beyond that, it might as well just be a semi if you are going that big and that expensive for used equipment with no warranty.

I looked it up when I was at the auction and found an old review of one by a boat magazine online. That truck by that builder cost a tad bit of $90k in 2002...

I found the auction listing btw.. has more pictures. to give better idea how clean this truck was..

    3126....ewwww

Edit: never mind, I was thinking the 3116. The 3126 was definitely better than the 3116. But, I stick by assessment that the only good engine Cat ever made was the 3406C/E.
