I heard people say that you can be asked to load/unload at times when necessary (waht the name for this job? I forget what you all called it). I've done this kinda work before and don't mind it. I even kinda like it. so I wonder if you hook up with a company like Roehl and actaully let them know you want to do some of that work to make extra $, if you can. or maybe I'm ignorant here and things do not work that way?

The term is lumping. Most companies will pay a decent wage to a lumper, but if the driver lumps it the pay is low. I used to have to tailgate everything for years. I hauled carpet for a long time and had to fingerprint each roll. Anymore I don't want to touch the freight. Just swing the doors and bump the dock. Wake me up when your done. SL&C
