Ok, so I have worked corporate office type jobs for the past 13 years.
I want a bit of a change. I am tired of trying to climb the corporate latter. Tried of the suit and tie and tired of going to the same building everyday.
I am thinking of getting into trucking and my DOT Physical is done and I have started practicing for the CDL permit test. I don't have a current CDL as of yet. Is there a company like food service or tanker or a local route in the Fort Lauderdale area?
I was thinking of applying for McLane or GFS or something like that my first question is this, I want to secure a job before I quit one. Is there a local company that hires and will sponsor the training?
If not I would be willing to pay, but I want a job so I am not without income.
I know I can drive OTR but I am not looking at going OTR or even having them paying for the CDL as I do not want to commit to being with an OTR company so that is out of the question.
My only other question is what is the typical salary or these companies?
Are they paid hourly or by the load or mile?
How are benefits usually and vacation time?
I know I will be working, but I feel it is a bit more to have the physical stress than the mental stress.
