Have another odd run. Have two vans, both under one ton, going to Richmond, Va. and Chesapeake, Va. They are both already lettered with the company name and DOT #. I know I don’t have to worry about scales and I’m not worried about medical card. I have that covered. I am crossing state lines to make these deliveries though. My question is if I want to take a driver along to deliver one that doesn’t have a medical card is that possible? Also is a log necessary? I can deliver both myself if not just an extra run. These van runs always screw me up. Be glad to get back to delivering trucks. I know what to do then. Thanks.

    From the FMCSA:

All commercial drivers of vehicles in interstate commerce with a maximum gross vehicle weight rating of over 10,000 pounds (4,536 kilograms) are required to obtain and maintain a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (ME Certificate)

    Medical | FMCSA.

Around here. You drive ANY vehicle with a dot number. Medical is required.

When I worked construction. All the company pickups required medical. Personally. I think it's a silly requirement.

I thought ya needed to hit the scales too if you have DOT numbers. Anything over 5k is what I think I read.

    Depends 100% on the state.
Some are all CMV's, some are all vehicles over x weight, doesn't matter if CMV or personal, most are a combination of the two.
